Your Right to a Good Faith Estimate

‍Under the federal No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your medical care will cost.

‍Health care providers are required to give patients who are uninsured, or who are not using insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency services, including psychiatric evaluation and medication management.

You can ask for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service. If you schedule a service at least three business days in advance, you will receive a written estimate at least one business day before the service. If you schedule at least ten business days in advance, you will receive it within three business days.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
